Crawl Spaces

Crawl spaces are an uncontrolled environment where cold and warm air flow in and out all year round. Specifically in the winter, these spaces just below your floor are a source of cold air penetration into your home. At a time of year when homeowners want to be cozy and warm, a cold crawl space can be a barrier to your comfort. In addition to discomfort, cold crawl spaces can lead to high utility bills and overall energy inefficiency. At Sutton Energy Solutions, we provide reflective heat insulation to eliminate extreme temperature fluctuation in your crawl spaces and prevent outdoor air from changing the temperature inside.

Crawl Space Vapor Barrier

Cold crawl spaces lead to cold floors and cold feet. Over time, a poorly insulated crawl space can result in a variety of energy efficiency problems in your home.

Reflective barrier insulation installed just beneath the floor of your home can stop the infiltration of cold crawl space air by providing added insulation value to the floors. Our reflective barrier insulation can achieve an insulation as high as R-11. Reflective barrier will not promote mold or mildew growth, so once installed, it requires very little maintenance.

Moisture Control

Crawl spaces have dirt floors that can easily retain moisture. Ultimately, water in the ground causes humidity in the crawl space. Moisture is absorbed from the crawl space and into the home. Over time, excessive moisture in the crawl space floor can cause rot or mold in the walls or floors of your home.

Vapor barriers can help prevent these problems from occurring. A vapor barrier is a protective layer that sits on top of the dirt and prevents moisture from evaporating into the air above. The moisture barrier can provide essential protection, especially in homes with poor drainage. When paired with reflective insulation, the crawl space stays functional and dry, even during rainy seasons.

I have been amazed at the difference in temperature between the outside and the inside. For several weeks, I only had a space heater. The temperature in my office never got below 58 degrees, even though the outside temperature was in the mid 30s. Now, that the weather has moderated, I rarely use my mini-split.

I must admit that I was a little concerned that such a thin product would be as effective as it is. I am very pleased!!
